This week in Elvington
And in the Rivers Partnership:
Churchyard maintenance session - Saturday 15th NovemberThe next churchyard session will be on Saturday 15th November, please come along if you can. Starting slightly earlier at 1.30pm to make use of the light! We’ll be doing some tidying before the winter and planting saplings and plants. The York Payback team are coming in every few weeks to do general grass cutting and weeding. Their next session will be Wednesday 5th November. Sutton Christmas Tree Festival - Create an Elvington EntryCome and help make a Christmas tree display for Sutton Church Christmas Festival. 2:30pm at Elvington church on 7th December. All welcome - the more hands the better! We’re going to create Peace Tree, making origami doves using a design that Ruth Merriman used. A tribute to her and all her creativity in the church in past years. The festival itself is on 13-14th December in Sutton church. Belfry CleanOur tower needs its annual clean - it's full of cobwebs, dead bees and dust! I'll be going up there one weekend soon to give it a good autumn scrub. Can you lend a hand? It's a wonderful view from the top and a rare opportunity to see part of the church that's normally inaccessible (not least because of the bees in summer). Please give Ian a call/message/WhatsApp on 07963 469 090 for arrangements. You'll need old clothes/overalls, gloves and ideally a good dust mask (I've got plenty of spare disposable ones). St Crux fund-raising event for Elvington ChurchSaturday November 22nd: call for Volunteers and Donations The annual St Crux fund raising event for Elvington church is our key fundraising event of the year and is a fun event to help with. Thank-you you to all those who have volunteered already. At the time of writing we are still in need of extra help at the end of the day. If you could help with this that would be great. Donations please:
Please contact Alison Stead 07939979816 if you would like to help or have donations. Whether or not you can help please put the date in your diary and come along and support on the day! PGS upgradeThe Parish Giving Scheme is the best way to give regularly to Elvington Church (better than a standing order). The PGS website, which has had some recent upgrades, is now back up, but with some teething issues, I suggest that you give them a few weeks before trying to use it again. Ideal for children and Families
