Services - letter from Jackie

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

I hope you are well. As you will have, heard Rev Robert Owen will be leaving us in August his last service will be on August 17th at Escrick at 10.30, do join us to say goodbye to him and Ruth. Catharine our LLM has also stood down for the foreseeable future and Debbie our curate has significantly reduced her ministry
hours. We are effectively 3 ministers down at the present time.

As you would expect this does leave us short of a priest and alongside other staffing limitations this will mean some short-term changes to our service pattern. The PCCs of the Rivers Partnership met in July with the major agenda item to discuss next steps. With the main issue how do we have a sustainable and manageable service pattern until the vacancy is filled. There was a concern for my health and wellbeing
especially with my sister’s terminal illness diagnosis and the impact of that. The decision was taken that we would have an interim service pattern that reduces services. To keep this equitable the decision is that each church reduces by one service. I know this isn’t ideal and it is with heavy heart that I communicate this to
you – BUT the PCCs have taken this decision as a temporary measure and we will review as soon as we appoint a new Assistant Minister.

The hope is that you will be willing to travel to the nearest service and we are hoping to have lifts organised to facilitate this. We are planning to advertise late September with a hope to have someone appointed by Christmas to start January. Please will you pray with me that God calls someone to serve in the Rivers Partnership as our new Assistant Minister and we fill the vacancy as soon as possible.

With love and prayers
Jackie
