We would like to invite you to join us on Sunday, 1st October to celebrate the 140th year of (the present) Holy Trinity Church in Elvington.
There will be a Harvest Service in church at 10.30am followed by lunch in the village hall at 12 o'clock.
Everyone is welcome to either event, whether you are a regular "church-goer" or not.
Harvest Service and Vision-on-Sunday
At 10:30am is the harvest family service with baptism - all are welcome! This will be a relaxed and welcoming service in celebration of the harvest.
We will be collecting for two charities this year:
- Food/goods will go to Carecent in York. They are particularly asking for food and toileteries - please see their donor page or below. Donations of food etc. can be brought to the service.
- Financial gifts will go to Farm Africa.
All children are invited to come at 10:00 to the church for a special "Vision-on-Sunday " session where we will be doing a quick activity for harvest.

About Carecent and Farm Africa
We have been supporting Carecent and Farm africa for some years now. Carecent, who look after numerous homeless people in York are running low on supplies and are asking specifically for help. The items they urgently need are:
Food
Cereal (all types)
Tinned meat (cornbeef, hot dogs and spam)
Beans
Tinned spaghetti
Tinned tomatoes
Tea bags
Coffee
Biscuits (We have big lovers of chocolate digestives!)
Sugar
Tinned fruit
Toiletries
Baby wipes/face wipes
Shampoo & conditioner
Shower gel
Toothpaste
Toothbrush
Roll-on deodorants
Feminine products
Farm Africa helps build sustainable farming and fisheries in Africa, helping people to set up farms, grow crops and raise livestock. Financial donations given at the Harvest Service will go to support them.
Family Service
Family services are typically informal, relaxed services, with special features for children. Usually led by clergy, or sometimes members of the congregation, this service is really for everyone, all ages, to come and learn about God and share our faith together. Music is usually piano and/or organ and typically includes some songs that children know from school.
