On May 22nd we have our annual Rogation service - we shall be praying for God to bless the crops growing locally as well as thinking about farmers across the world.
The plan is to have an outdoor service at Elvington Church, we shall begin at the field just along from the church where the road forks on Church Lane. You will be directed from the church if you are unsure. It is only a five-minute walk to get there, but please come in good time to allow yourself time to get along to the field for 10.30 if possible.
If you are unable to walk to the field, it will be possible to watch a rogation video in church until everyone else gets back to the church. After a short time looking at the field (hopefully still with lambs grazing there) and a prayer, we will walk together to the church for the rest of the service.
We plan to have the service in the lower churchyard so please bring a chair with you. (You may leave it in the churchyard ready if you are planning to walk along the lane to
the field, or we will allow time for everyone to get seated when we get to the churchyard).
Please pray for good weather, but if it is wet, we will have the service inside the church.
There will be the normal church collection, and in addition, as it is the end of Christian Aid Week, there will also be a chance to give to this worthy charity.
What is this service like?
United Service
United services join the benefice of 5 churches, and once each month we join together in a united service, which rotates around the benefice. The services vary a bit in style, but usually have Holy Communion. Music is usually led by the organist.
