Meadow photos , Spence Grave , Toilet

With thanks to Alison, Shelly and Roger, here are some updates on the churchyard with photos belowl

The crested dog’s tail grass ( the first photo)  is a good one to have as it is a great source of food for a number of butterfly species. The last photo is an orchid, first spotted in  the meadow last year. I’ve also planted a couple more shrubs in the bank near the meadow ( they were ones I didn’t want in the garden) and done some weeding.  And there are two field maple trees and a spindle tree planted along the line of fence ( next to the footpath to the river)  near the meadow, planted in memory of David.

Spence Grave

The large Spence grave has been repaired and tidied and now looks much nicer in the centre of the churchyard.

The toilet has had a coat of paint and looks much nicer.

All churches are closed for worship and all other activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This means that our church income has fallen dramatically as there are no collections or fundraising events.

If you would like to donate to the work of the church, then there are several ways to make a donation:

  • The best way to donate money to the church is using a regular Standing Order. please request our bank details through this website or from Gill Jones, Church Treasurer.
  • You can give online through justgiving:
  • Alternatively a cheque made out to Parochial Church Council of Elvington and given to Gill (10 Lorraine Avenue).

Thank you.

Bishop John of Selby who has visited Elvington several times has sent the following video message to the benefice
